Take a moment to think about your pre-shot routine - specifically from the moment you ground your club behind the ball until the shot is over. Then answer these questions:
- Do you follow the same set-up steps?
- Do you follow the steps in the same order?
- Do you set up over the ball in the same amount of time, each time?
- Do you do a routine every time, on every shot?
- Does your routine purposely set you up in the best position for success?
- Could you write down the major steps of your routine, and explain why you use them?
- Does your routine get you physically and mentally centered in the present, focused only on the task at hand?
- Do you execute your routine automatically?
- Does your routine hold up in pressure situations
Here's a link to my personal pre-shot routines: Pre-Shot Routines - Putting and Other to help you get you started on your own. Make your pre-shot routine shorter, longer, or whatever - but make sure you have one.
Don't treat this lightly, having a specific pre-shot routine is an absolute prerequisite for game improvement.
